Fishing in Moreton Bay and the Pumicestone Passage

Located on Brisbane's doorstep, Moreton Bay offers an abundance of opportunities for both commercial and recreational fisherman.

There is incredible diversity and quantity of seasonal marine life living in or passing through the bay. Fishermen's favourites include: sand crabs, mud crabs, calamari, squid, prawns, whiting, bream, tailor, flathead, snapper, parrot and a variety of sharks.

Marine Park Zones

The Pumicestone Passage is a part of the Moreton Bay Marine Park.
To sustain the diverse environment for future generations, there are various protection zones, including no fishing areas, within the Marine Park. To find out details of the zones visit Department of Environment and Resource Management.
